Podcast Editing Plus is a global podcast editor community where we dive into the growing pains of being a freelance podcast editor, running a small podcast editing business, or transitioning between the two like I am!
Podcast Editing Plus (PEP) has a:
LinkedIn group: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12589124/
podcast (under construction. will let you know when it’s back up correctly)
TWITTER LIST: https://twitter.com/i/lists/1467474855150989314
And this is normally the newsletter component where I’m sharing my own podcast editing and business growth as well as podcast editing tips, resources and conversations.
But our February AirBnB in Rome, Italy has the worst internet EVER. It’s creating all kinds of slow downs in my client work and that’s bleeding over into my funtime activities, like writing this newsletter. Yes, I seriously enjoy writing this newsletter! (and reading your reactions to it is such a gem as well!)
So instead of fighting it and pushing out a crappy newsletter or two, I’m going to go on break instead. Will be back in March even if it means writing from my phone. HA, I will not be stopped.
OTHER CANCELLATIONS:
I’ve also cancelled the first Global Podcast Editor Chats on YouTube after I saw how much of a lag time it looked like I tortured Bethany and Jason through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nj5WgOJCBo&t=2s. It’s far from awful, it’s just my internet connection made it just a tad off. What Jason and Bethany said in this podcast editing pain points convo was SO STINKING WISE! Things like how input quality is worth spending heaps of time teaching clients about, the best rereverb tool to use and more. It’s SO worth a listen. If you’d like to join us for a chat in March or later in the year, check out the info here: https://www.stephfuccio.com/podcasteditingplus
Also, I’ve cancelled the first Podcast Editing Client Attraction Mastermind. I’m hoping to get it back on the cal for April but won’t start registration again until things are certain. To get on the email list for first chance at registering for it then, fill out this quick form: https://forms.gle/NNfkCrP7uqTBG1L88
BUT THIS IS NOT AT ALL TRAGIC!
I know this looks like a lot of bad things are happening but it doesn’t feel that way.
It’s a lot of moving things around, for sure. But there are good things brewing too, I just can’t talk about them yet. And I am VERY busy still with client work. Very. As I mentioned in the above PEP LIVE, I’m getting some outsourcing help from my husband, lol, and also from a friend of mine as well. And h*** yes, I’m paying them!
And I’ve been able to use my phone data to:
-do my first ever video thread on Twitter with Laura Davis of Shelter in Place about the Kasama Labs course that starts SOON! If you’re podcast editing curious, you may want to check this out. There is a focus on narrative storytelling with plenty of DAW training in there as well. https://twitter.com/stephfuccio/status/1488560160037556226
-Vent about people’s obsession with Joe Rogan and hopefully bring a global, big picture focus to my Global Podcast Goddess segment on Follow, Review, Share:
-Followed (and wrote too many opinionated tweets about) Ray Ortega’s tweet about podcasters obsession with a review CTA. Spoiler, an Apple employee participated in the convo but not as a spokesperson for the company. It’s really interesting to see where the convo went.

THIS MONTH:
My goal during this downtime is to refine my workflow and figure out how to do all the work myself again. I do NOT want to run a production house. That’s become abundantly clear. I’m still honing in on my podcast editing superpower but I have an inkling that it may be in the area of dialogue shaping, a term I like to use because dialogue editing is too cut and paste mechanical in my mind. This is a long term goal but I want to help enliven interview episodes and help shape them into more conscious narratives. So far, I’ll be honest, I’m not getting a strong HURRAH to this idea but I’m working on it. Like I said, more long term bespoke services.
Because we all know that you either have to scale or specialize. I want to specialize in going deeper into the episodes instead of cruising through them so fast. Eventually. Right now I’m just enjoying having a lot of work with clients and podcasts I absolutely adore. If you’re curious who some of them are, here’s my forever being revised podcast editing services page: https://www.stephfuccio.com/editing.html
CONSULTATION OPPORTUNITIES:
If you need help finding work or with any workflow or upskilling plans and want some help sorting through the info and options, I’ve opened up my calendar for consultation calls. This page shows hour long calls for $100 BUT for newsletter subscribers I’m happy to do 30 minute calls for $50 as well. We will etch out a plan before we chat so that the 30 minutes is used most efficiently.
Book your consultation time here: https://zcal.co/i/uRDuzBtD
NEW NEWSLETTER FORMAT?
I don’t know, now that I’ve written this kind of accountability update I’m liking how it looks and flows. What do you think? Should I reformat the newsletter to be more of this than the choppy but very scannable, information dense version it was before? I could even do it weekly if it were this easy. Hmmmm. Email me and let me know what you think (just hit REPLY if you’re reading this in your email inbox).
This month I’ll still be in our LinkedIn group, on Twitter and on email if you’d like to chat about anything.
DAWingly yours,
