#46: Remote Work & Client Attraction Tips
Podcast Editing is fascinating but the hunt for paid work is equally frustrating. Let's change that!
Greetings wavies (waveform junkie nickname),
This mural went up in our neighborhood in Split, Croatia recently. I’m asking around on the expat boards and so far folks are saying it’s a beer ad. But I also found info about a famous Croatian graffiti artist named Iman Grif, so am not convinced yet. The symbolism in this feels deeper and more intense than beer. Nothing wrong with beer, don’t get me wrong, but her facial expression in the mural. It just doesn’t feel ready to kick back with a brew. lol. Will keep you posted if I learn anything else.
Alright, let’s get you connected!

Here’s what this sub-newsletter will contain:
I’ve reshaped these remote work posts to emphasize the importance I wrote about in this issue: that making genuine connections is more fruitful than applying for job postings. This sub newsletter is an experiment in testing out this theory. I hope it helps.
PART 1: 100% remote podcast editing work; free subscription
PART 2: client attraction tips and advice; paid subscription
Part 1: 100% remote podcast editing work
2 quick things:
JOB TITLES: There are wonky job labels in many of these posts so I’m checking to make sure they’re podcast editing related.
I’M A REMOTE WORK-SEEKER TOO: I’m NOT involved with the hiring process for any of these jobs. I’m looking for jobs along with you and sharing what I find.
#1: Hacker Noon, Podcast Editor, Compensation NOT listed
Found this job: Google.com search for “looking for a podcast editor”
Active job? Not likely but not sure. The post date was July 2021, last year. My theory is that even if this is an old job post, it sounds like they often hire contractors and then, if a good fit, move them to full-time contracts. If this content is up your alley, this might be a good connection to have, even if this specific job is not available right now.
I like that they count independent creations as experience:
The perfect candidate has extensive experience audio and video editing.Think: personal podcasts, radio, youtube channel.
#2: Stealth, Podcast Editor, compensation not listed
Found this job: Google.com search for “looking for a podcast editor”
Active job? Most likely not since the ad expired in February 2022. However, the poster, Emma Tracey, shared her LinkedIn profile in this posting. What a wonderful opportunity to connect with her. Tempted? I hope you are! And don’t be put off if you’re not in Berlin, Germany. It’s a very international city. Too many editors talk themselves out of jobs and connections before they even make contact. Don’t.
Coming soon: Independent Production Houses
As mentioned last week, I can’t shake the idea that listing work from independent podcast production houses would be way more fruitful for you. So, starting today, I’m reaching out to 2 of these every day to see if they want to be a part of this newsletter. If you know of any that may want to get involved, please let me know. Thanks.
A special treat in our exclusive area today, wavies!
My husband and I are working on a special project that’s going to help smaller podcasters find Twitter followers that are already interested in AND listen to their type of podcast. This project is the result of the podcast audits I did last year. I realized that podcasters were working too hard trying to attract everyone and not the right some ones to engage with their content and community. If you’re interested, for now, you’ll need to subscribe to become part of our beta testing community.
