Here’s a flashback wall art piece from our summer in Valencia, Spain. The wall art there was such a treat!
The Global Podcast Editors newsletter
…is where I share heaps of podcast editing business and technical information, my own audio, and podcast video editing experiments, as well as timely conversations I'm having in the space.
Hi Wavie,
I know it’s only November tomorrow but I’m already doing year-end review reels in my head. I think this is hitting me soon because January marks 3 years of “moving” to Europe for us. That’s a lot to process.
If I’m honest, my brain is focused on November's National Podcast Post Month, NaPodPoMo. More on that below but my weekend was basically park and infrastructure time for this month-long event. Oh, and starting to read a new book that I adore.
Okay enough about me, let’s get you info drenched!
Steph
🎯If you do one thing after scanning this issue, I hope it’s signing up for a slot for our 10-minute LIVE events daily this month.
FEATURE: Conversation sound hugs
This Happiness Lab episode, The Handbook for Sonic Happiness – A Twenty Thousand Hertz/Happiness Lab Mash-up, brings up a good point about how careful we are about other sensory elements but often neglect sound. In interview podcasts, I feel like we look for sounds (music specifically) that go into a space where music is supposed to go. But what if there were more intentionality with sound in even “just talk episodes?” Not over sound-scaping episodes. I hate it when there are too many distracting sounds when just a voice is appropriate.
But why isn’t there more sound between talking segments in interview and similar episodes?
In his latest episode of…

Here’s some info I think you’ll find useful.
🎨 Podcast Editing & DAW fun
I often wonder, how do we find our first DAWs? And what makes us use that one and not explore others?
Last year, I wrote Switching DAWs: A Tale of Four Digital Audio Workspaces for Discover Pods, in hopes that by diving deep into DAW comparisons it would help new editors more easily find their first DAW.
But I’m not convinced it does that. Although I think the post is useful on many other levels. Does a chart like this from DAWstudio.com help more on this front?
OR
Is there a “how-to find the best DAW for you” quiz that we could crowdsource and release into the world: as a group? Hmmmmm. Thoughts?

DAWingly yours,
I am Stephanie Fuccio, podcast editor, podcast writer, and generally podcasting-obsessed human being. Although I write this newsletter, it has become the cornerstone of the larger GPE community and in fact, paid subscriptions fund many of our events.
Oh, and I’m coffee obsessed.
There are two themes for the newsletter and they run on alternate Mondays: podcast editing technology AND podcast editing business. When there’s a 5th Monday, I'll cheer in textual silence.
