☕ #82: Come closer

They moved the Christmas market to one of my favorite parts of Split this year. Just beyond that stage is the Riva, the pedestrian waterfront. This fire pit was not for cooking food but just for heating up. A nice touch.

The Global Podcast Editors newsletter…

…features business and technical tips, resources and first hand experiences of navigating a solopreneur business remotely to expose other editors to different workflow, technology, business practices and locations globally they could work from.

There are two themes for the newsletter and they run on alternate Mondays: podcast editing technology AND podcast editing business. When there’s a 5th Monday, I'll cheer in textual silence.

👋Hi Wavie,

I’m writing this from a new coworking space in Split, Croatia. My seasonal blues, holiday grump, and moving stress have stopped my brain from working. Even a lot of walking has not jolted me motivated.

So I’ve come here to get some annoying fluorescent lights on me and see if a change of scenery will do me good. It’s been under an hour and I’ve already started this newsletter issue and actually opened my to-do list. It’s working! I know what you’re thinking: why am I pushing myself to work when I clearly want to relax? My stagnation was NOT a relaxing one, it was pure stuckness. And I hate feeling stuck.

I’ve got so much to tell you but I’m going to wait to share new, new things for the first few 2023 issues. For now, I want to do a quick review of Global Podcast Editors in 2022.

🚀 5 Tech features from 2022:

If you didn’t read these the first time around, take a peek!

  • Issue 32: DAW COMPARISON: Noise reduction with Audacity & Hindenburg

  • Issue 36: Headphones: Bone Conduction Headphones

  • Issue 38: Video podcast editing: Audio and video editing are TWO different edits

  • Issue 73: Rethinking podcast video jump cuts

  • Issue 78: 😖 The difficulty of explaining what we do

💋 Coffee break!

This is a decaf coffee with milk from Basta, one of my favorite places on the water in Split. I'll share another moment from Basta in the premium section of today’s issue. Along with these tech espresso shots.

I am Stephanie Fuccio, podcast editor, podcast writer, and generally podcasting-obsessed human being. Although I write this newsletter solo, it has become the cornerstone of the larger GPE community and in fact, paid subscriptions fund many of our events.
