The top sheet like snacks in this picture are pistachio brittle from Italy. I had it in Rome but it’s apparently from Sicily. As you’re reading this, I’ll be on my way back to Rome and more so, back to this coffee shop in the Prati neighborhood, where I’ll be having some of this food.
👋Hi Wavie,
I’m taking my first actual vacation in about 4 years RIGHT NOW (as you read this).
I spent a fair bit of time not working when we first moved to Europe in January 2020 but I was taking language classes and applying for work. So that wasn’t a vacation. And we all know the stress that happened a few months into that year.
But THIS is actually going to be a vacation, short as it may be (3 days). And so I’m actually writing this and all of this week’s newsletters (there’s 4 now between the 2 newsletters) on a chilly Saturday evening in Croatia, before we leave. It will be 100% worth it. We’ll be in Rome, Italy for 3 days and then based in Turin, Italy for 2 months. Working.
And speaking of working, here are a few brief things you should know while I’m away.
Steph
🧐Changes to GPE chats, Google listserv, paid subs
Due to lack of participation, I’m stopping the following items.
Google Listserv: closing February 6, 2023
GPE chats: all cancelled
Paid newsletter subscriptions: I’m pausing the premium subscriptions for the time being. When the format and content of the newsletter settle down I’ll make a more permanent decision. For now, all GPE newsletter content is available to everyone.
Courses: now live. One available now and another one coming in February.
I’m going to return to writing the newsletter as the pure joy experience it is for me and leave the community building to others.
🚴🏾♀️ How to close a business deal
After I was on Josh Spector’s I Want To Know podcast, I got this email from Account Executive Brian Rogers.

Stephanie,
Saw you on his podcast.
A very simple sales formula:
FFBC
Feature
Function
BENEFIT
Close
What it is
What it does
What does this mean for you
Close
Just a helpful hint
Brian
My takeaways from Brian’s message:
Brian is a kind person who takes the time to share what he knows (thanks Brian!)
listeners DO go into shownotes
BENEFIT, as Brian emphasized in his note, is where we need to spend a lot of time in our discovery calls. I don’t know about you but I think I spend more time on describing than sharing the value of what we’re doing. That’s changing now!
Guesting does expand your audience indeed. Both my newsletters and one of my podcasts spiked after this appearance, even though I was a messy solopreneur in the episode.
🙋🏽 Question wavie: Have you guested on a business podcast recently? Nudge, nudge.
