☕ Podcast editing tech espresso shot

Join a DAW specific group for the DAW(s) you are using or want to know more about.

This might seem obvious but it still needs stating, there are DAW specific groups online that are great support for your questions. But there are more advantages to these groups.

For example, I am in two Hindenburg groups on facebook and one in a course I am taking. Because I use Reaper for video, I am also in a FB group for that DAW too.

Being in DAW specific groups, in addition to podcast editing groups where any and every DAW can be talked about, gives you a whole other community space. There are folks not in podcasting in all these groups I am in too, which is nice because it helps me understand what else I can do with these skills. It also removes me from any rigid mindset I get in with the DAW because I am hearing them talk about how they use the DAW for their specific use.

Additionally, I get informed answers from someone who knows the DAW super well and sometimes the replies are faster than DAW non-specific groups.

What I rarely get are people who reply with what they think they heard about a DAW. This type of reply happens far more often than I’d like in DAW non specific groups. It’s omnipresent in podcasting in general. Seems to be a podcasting “expert positioning” tactic but all it does is NOT answer the question at hand and waste people’s time. I just don’t see that as much in the DAW specific groups.

Personally, I like being in these DAW specific groups AND DAW non-specific groups.

There must be DAW specific groups on Discord, right? Do you know any there? I am in sound design groups (as a permanent wallflower) but not DAW specific ones. If you know any, please comment and I’ll add them to this communtiy list, which has some of the groups I know of.

There are more groups all the time so search by the DAW name to find a full list in whichever platform you use.

😏How do I attract podcast editing clients?

"Where do I find podcast editing work?" is one of the most frequent questions in the audio editing space. There are many answers to this question and most editors do a combination of client finding strategies. This micro course will focus on helping you create genuine, be yourself online posts into the world so good fit clients can find you, like you and want to work with you.

We did a video on the GPE YouTube channel on Logic Pro templates that I think you’d be interested in.

And

I’m bringing back the GPE podcast, starting with the GPE live chats. Which would you prefer:

A. the entire hour in one long episode

B. A above with chapters (so you can skip around, if your podcast player supports chapters)

C. releasing the lives as four separate short episodes (about 15 minutes in length)

hit REPLY and let me know. thanks

I’ve been saving Schitt’s Creek TV show for the next time I got sick and here I am. Season 1 down, and after a nap I’m diving into Season 2. Not sure why but I am loving it. Saw so many IG reels on it that I thought I knew too much. Nope, still tickled.

See ya Wednesday,

Steph
