Mondays are business-oriented posts AND Thursdays are tech-focused.
Hi Wavie,
Just finished my quarter 3 taxes, whew. I’m not a friend of spreadsheets even though my freelancing life has invited many of them into my happy place. Oh well, I try. The good news is that I’ve shifted a lot of my invoices to monthly and expenses to yearly, when possible. This limits the amount of spreadsheet time needed when I compile things for our Accountant.
Okay, lol, in an attempt to not write about the weather in this opening segment, I wrote about something even more boring. Argh. Sorry. It is a money issue though, so there’s that. How about we dive into more interesting elements of money in our podcast editing life?

Feature: International Payments
Back in July, I got the below message from Ross, an editor from London, UK asking about how to get paid from clients internationally.
I have a few tools but wanted more input from other global editors before writing about it in the newsletter. And then, would you believe it, this turned was brought up during our last GPE Virtual Monthly Meet Up. And we spent quite a bit of time talking about this. Thanks to Naomi, Sam, Cornel, and Steve for this conversation and information.
During the meeting, we discussed 4 main ways to accept payments from international clients. I’ve also asked around on some of the digital nomad groups I’m in online and come up with 8 more possibilities. We’ll start with the ones you probably know and then dive into newer ones that you may want to explore.

Business Espresso Shot
☕ The Wealth Of Connection: A New Approach to Making Business Personal by by Vincent Pugliese (book). This book was referred to me recently when I mentioned the find, like, research, and meet trajectory of our client attraction courses. I’ve not gotten the book yet but have been listening to a lot of podcast episodes where folks are interviewing Vincent (another New York Italian-American, like me! Although I moved from NY when I was 8. But those formative years, whew are they powerful!)
I’ve also been watching a few interview videos with him. This one I found especially good. The segment from 20:28 for about 5 or so minutes about generosity makes my heart soar.
FYI: There are more business shots in the premium version of the newsletter.
